Who We Are

Welcome, dear Retreaters!

We are Fabrice and Hannah, founders of Namast’Oss Retreats SAS: our personal brand of Zen & Wellness Retreats in such idyllic locations as the Algarve, Portugal and Northumberland, United Kingdom.

Our mission is to deliver unforgettable experiences in unforgettable places, creating opportunities for those in need of quality time and space for mental clarity and peace.

Meditation through Mindfulness and Movement...

Retreat into this ancient sanctuary of relaxation and reflection, as far away as you can feel from the noise and oppression of city life, and slow time through mindful activities that your soul and spirit crave: Yoga, Walking, Meditation, Stretching, Visualisation and Relaxation.

Begin your morning by being kind to yourself… No more angst from news and social media scrolling - instead, take a deep breath of healing, purifying, Northumbrian country air. Our calming rituals will allow you to refresh your mind, renew your thoughts and restore your senses every morning. Awaken to birdsong, set your intention and watch your day gently unfold, spend blissful time ambling through woodlands and grass…

We can’t wait to hear from you and welcome you on one of our Retreats — whenever the time is right and you hear that inner call...

With love and gratitude,

"Namast'Oss!"

— Fabrice & Hannah

A city break… Or a break from the city…?

Tucked away in the wide, unspoilt landscapes of rural Northumberland, Shepherd’s Dene offers something increasingly rare: space, silence, and a deep sense of calm.

Here, feel time slow down, watch your day unfold gently, lose yourself among the rolling hills, ancient stone walls, open skies and the soft rhythm of nature.

Here, where there is no traffic noise, no crowds, no rush — awaken to birdsong in the morning, long views that invite your breath to slow, and settle down to evenings wrapped in stillness.

Here is the kind of place where your shoulders drop without you even noticing, where sleep comes easily, and where you remember what it feels like to simply be.

Northumberland is one of England’s most quietly beautiful regions — wild, spacious and wonderfully understated. Wander along peaceful country paths, explore windswept moorland or visit nearby beaches where the sand stretches endlessly and the sea air refreshes and cleanses your soul.

Our captivating region is rich in history and nature: castles tell stories of mystery and marvel, villages feel timeless, and the night skies — among the darkest in Europe — offer a rare chance to truly look up and reflect.

Offer yourself a weekend away from the dirt, noise and demands of city life, and gift yourself something meaningful: rest, renewal, and reconnection with yourself — in nature, and at your own pace.

All activities are optional, meaning whenever you desire time for personal relaxation, reading or reflection, or you have your own ideas for how you wish to spend your stay, you should feel perfectly at ease to do as you wish.

Each morning, between breakfast and lunch where we reconvene together, we shall reserve a couple of hours for Personal Time – whether it be to go for a slow walk around the grounds, relax in a comfy seat indoors or take in the fresh air outside, or quite simply relax in your room…

Similarly, in the evenings, everyone is welcome to do as they please - whether that be to stay in any one of the communal lounge areas for a little while after dinner, breathe in the evening air or take advantage of the solace and quiet of their room.

Testimonials

Alexandra

T.

"I just came away with a profound sense of feeling ‘good’ - good about myself, good about how I was spending each day and good about moving forward with the next steps in my life!"

Pierre-Alexandre

T.

"I feel much more centred, present in the moment, and thinking much less about the past or the future. I’m far less stressed than before, and far less worried or anxious about so many things."

Myriam

T.

“What I loved was the way we all became really close. It really felt like I had known you for a really long time, even though we had basically just met!”

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I GET TO THE RETREAT VENUE?

There are direct trains to Newcastle Central station (less than 3 hours from London King’s Cross), private minibus to the venue; OR take a local train from Newcastle to Riding Mill, then a short taxi journey to the venue; OR arrive by car: there is ample parking on-site.

DO I NEED TO BE EXPERRIENCED IN YOGA OR MEDITATION TO ATTEND?

Not at all. Our bespoke Retreats are created for all levels, including complete beginners, and designed specifically with our Retreaters' needs in mind. All movement, Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness sessions are gentle, guided and optional, allowing you to participate at your own pace and comfort level.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RETREAT PRICE?

Your stay includes a 3-night accommodation in our beautiful Edwardian retreat house, all daily meals (continental breakfast, lunch and three-course evening meals), tea & coffee throughout the day, morning Yoga, Breathing & Meditation sessions, a Sound Bath, guided walks including Hadrian’s Wall, access to 26 acres of gardens and woodland, evening activities such as the Firepit Gathering and Games Night and a private hire coach for transport to and from Newcastle Central Station.

IS THERE FREE TIME, OR IS THE SCHEDULE COMPULSORY?

Absolutely all activities are optional. We intentionally include personal time each day so you can rest, read, walk, reflect or simply enjoy the stillness of the surroundings. You are always encouraged to listen to your body and to do what feels right for you.

CAN I DRINK ALCOHOL DURING THE RETREAT?

Although it is by no means a strict detox, we maintain that the Retreat’s focus is on mindfulness, rest and clarity; guests are therefore welcome to make their own mindful choices during their stay. Alcoholic and soft drinks are not included, but are available to purchase from the bar and to add during mealtimes at one's own cost.
